Oh Great. Now I have a burning desire to grab one of the chickens, or maybe one of the alpacas or a goat, and take it for a nice brisk walk down the boulevard. Awesome visual.

Or perhaps riding on a horse, trailing leads with one of each following in line?

And what the heck happened to all the cool alpaca emojis that used to be here?!?

I can't get the video link to copy but this still was taken from it!

I now have a strange compulsion to disguise my little dog as a chicken when I take her for a walk …..

Spain announced yesterday that they are tightening our lockdown even further. Now you can only travel to work if it is classed as an essential service. Otherwise, work from home or don't work! Financial assistance is being organised.
However this is going to create a big, big problem on our island, and neighbouring ones. At least half the properties here are second homes and/or holiday lets and most have a pool. I look after 10 properties/pools for friends but normally only 2 or 3 at a time as I only do them when the owners aren't in residence. No one is in residence at the moment! Owners have all gone back to the UK, no tourists are here. OK, I don't have to clean the houses/apartments as no-one using but what about the pools? Our weather is hotting up nicely as summer approaches and the pools are quickly going to go foul without regular addition of chemicals - mosquito heaven! I can't travel to the properties and the shops that sell pool supplies have had to shut, not looking forward to the results ……...

You have made me laugh 2 days in a row. I have shared this story with two others and they had a giggle too. My daughter may have covid19. Her doctor said she needs to be tested, but she does not have the fever. And in California they are only testing the people with a fever. She and her husband have the N95 mask from last years forest fire near her. They are sending me one. She is very worried as I am and her sister also. Her inlaws are both doctors, but everyone is self isolating in their separate homes. She was advised by her doctor to wear the mask even if just taking a short walk on her street that has very little traffic. As a nurse and an old one at that. I feel helpless not to be able to go to her and DO something, I don't know what that would be. My next door neighbor's mother has been in the hospital two weeks ago, is still ill, and on Oxygen. Can not take it off or her 02 sats drop rapidly/ I am in general frustrated to be a nurse in a health crisis and not be able to go help my community. I am however, making DIY mask, as is a few friends. Two of our nursing homes are completely out of mask. I am planning on taking 15 to the one that needs it the most, tomorrow, just drop them off. And meeting with the County fire chief to get permission to use the fire houses as places for seamstress' to pick up supplies I take there, and another box for finished mask, so I can deliver then to our 14 care centers and nursing home. We have 76,000 residents and 17,000 of us are over 60 and therefore vulnerable. I feel better being able to do my little part to help our community and the assisted living centers, most of them have a lot of ill and demented patients. The governor of NY in a press conference said Nursing homes are LETHAL. of all the deaths in NY, 1/4 of them are in a nursing home. Then they have other patients, nurses and doctors who are ill and hospitalized and a few young ones have died from covid19.

Happy to help!

Sorry to hear about your family, hope all resolves well.

It's very difficult not to jump into action when your family has a need

Our island laundry that normally does all the hotel stuff set up a mask making service. They donated loads of sheets, pre cut to the mask pattern, they deliver to your door with sewing thread and then pick up a few days later after you have machined them. When I saw their ad asking for sewers I sent a message but got a reply saying thanks but they had had a really good response and I was on a waiting list of reserves! I think a lot of people are very glad to do something/anything they can to help. But of course the best way they can help is to practice good social distancing, good hygiene, and only go out when necessary.

I'll be thinking of you …...

Thanks, strong teacher, I started last week organizing the people that sew to make mask. Our nearest hospital is 20 to 30 miles away/ So far they have what they need, but the less acute places, like assisted living, a large one not to far away, director of nursing called me yesterday, saying they only had 10 mask for 100 workers. It scares me S...less to think of what is coming. The large nursing home administrator, a well educated MA in admin, and 27 yrs total as a nurse, just arrive here to take the job 30 days ago. Talk about trial by fire. She came from over 1000 miles away near Huston TX. I spoke with her today, she sounded ill, but was asleep, saying they are all working 15 to 18 hrs a day into the nights. She thinks they may have gotten a shipment of surgical mask, the ones used in the op room. Better than the ones usually used in a nursing home. So the 15 I have, will go to another nursing home. My machine is not working, but have another one being delivered this week, so until then I am washing pillow cases, hot dryer, ironing, cutting into 8x9 squares. lengthening the width by grosgrain tape, to help the mask almost reach the ears , over nose and under chin, And I can not wait to start sewing. They will not be perfect like the one my volunteer friend has made, but I will make sure I do them fast and make them functionable. As the Blues Brothers said to help save the Nuns orphanage in the 1980s silly movie, (could apply to all the health care workers and to the people all over the world who are making mask to stop this virus) "We are on a Mission from God"

Like when my military daughter was almost sent to the middle east when the first gulf war started. My other daughters said stop calling every day, don't you think she is worried too?
I called my California daughter today, who might have covid19, I woke her up from a late afternoon nap. She sounded ill, but was just sleepy.

I have decided to call her husband as ask him to have her check in with me every few days or if things change. And stop calling every day

Sometimes daughters have good advice. There is often a very fine line to walk, either worrying about a grown child or even worse, a grown child worrying about her child(ren)/my grandkids. I end up calling too much, or asking more questions, or giving "advice" when I'm concerned. It just raises the anxiety/worry of the other. I have a good relationship with daughter's husband. I listen, then attempt to shut my mouth with my daughter, then call the husband instead. Just give husband an occasional call and let her call you when she feels the need. It certainly works better for me.

WW, I know about that fine line. one daughter gives me advice, and all the time saying "you probably will not listen to what I tell you." The other daughter, who lives in Alabama, is as hard headed and suborn as I am, and she will never take direct advice. Have to come around the corner and suggest it gently. California daughter and I both know not to try to direct her actions.
Only Calif daughter is married. I will call her DH tomorrow and get a report on how she is feeling by then. He and I get along well also.

Yep, that fine line. Sometimes I’m not sure we even know it. Two daughters here, one deceased, and I still can talk with her better than the other. God gives us what we need, regardless of what we want. For sure, keep up with that DH!

If we do some operation on this pesky covid-19 thing, we can make it into something great .... remove the 'v' component, and inject the all-important 'r' and 'h' strands, and some re-sequencing, yielding orchid-19.
