Default USPS ... shipped with "Tender, Loving, Care"

A very generous member sent me a plant division. The plant, amazingly, arrived in great shape ... Have a look at the box. (I strongly suspect it started off cube-shaped.......)

It's like a collapsing bumper that absorbs energy.

What special handling is that called? Do you pay extra for it?

As much as folks like to bash carriers, that may be an indicator of poor packing.

Void space should be filled, providing some structural integrity to the box. Foam peanuts likely would have prevented that.

There was some paper in the box as well as a rigid plastic container within the box. Needless to say it was completely shattered. The box itself was a typical sturdy shipping box.
