My lone oncidium is sending out a spike on a bulb that hasn't even finished maturing. Mine had very bright light next to a south facing window, as well as fertilzer 3 out of 4 waterings. I'm wondering if light isn't the trick for most, as mine didn't do a think until I moved it there.

My Sharry Baby has 6 spikes this summer! I'm so excited!!

I actually did something productive this year and TOOK NOTES as to what was working and what wasn't. I grow outside and in NE Florida, it gets EXTREMELY hot and humid throughout the summer - (you could set your clocks by the summer thunderstorms) so the big thing for me was to be able to adapt the air circulation (I have a large floor fan I set up when I know Mother Nature has the day off) as well as the humidity and account for all the rain that we get - this plant gets dappled light through most of the morning and afternoon with emphasis on hotter indirect sun late in the day since the side yard is on the West side of the house. I water and fertilize heavly every week-end and add Pro-teckt to help with the heat and mist everything pretty good every morning before work.

Hope this helps!

I've been searching all over for a couple of answers regarding a new Oncidium I just got. It's small, just out of a plug tray, still in rock wool. I repotted yesterday into tree fern with some spagh (4:1).

irphrog, since you're in Fla and growing outdoors like I am, can you recommend how often I should be watering this now, in the cooler temps or, how often are you watering? (It's name...Onc. J.C. Terry.)

Also, what's Pro-teckt? Sounds very interesting.
