Gomesa Aloha Iwanaga
Default Gomesa Aloha Iwanaga

Hi everyone,
My Gomesa "Aloha Iwanaga" is blooming again, and finally all the flowers have opened, so I thought I'd share it with you.
This is probably one of my favorite orchids. The blooms are huge, last for at least 2 months and the plant itself is very resilient, having survived one of the hottest summers I can remember without any visible damage.

Here is it with its 40+ flowers:

And here's what it looked like in November (on the right):

That's quite a spray of flowers, especially if it is one spike. Beautiful!

Thanks! We had a heat wave in December with temperatures as high as 38C (100F) for several days, followed by january with highs consistently reaching 30C (86F). In February it wasn't as hot but it didn't rain for almost 3 weeks and we ended up only getting 1/3 of the average rainfall for the month.

Thank god summer ends tomorrow. Right now it's 65F and raining!
