Many of my Tolumnias are spiking or in flower. They are a joy to see with the many colors and designs.

All of the crosses above were made by Gavin Yamada of Puanani Orchids. Unfortunately he no longer raises orchids and closed his nursery.

How beautiful! So many gorgeous flowers and the color! I especially like your Nalo dancer and the Oh my. I've never seen such a huge collection of Tolumnia, thanks for showing us these.

Oh, how beautiful! I have just started with Tolumnias and they are in spike but, nothing like that! How many to you have and how are they watered? I read they hate to have water on the crown, how do you avoid that?

I have not been faring too well with my first 5 tolumnias. Two of them completely dead after 9 months, two hanging in there but seem to be resting. One has just shot up a new clump of leaves. Anyway, your post is inspiration to keep trying and learning, I hope it is simply not just too hot here in northeast Thailand to be feasible.

Don't give up. I went through the same phase of dispair when I first starting growing these. In fact I'm still experimenting and learning. Your chances are better if you keep the plants in a well ventilated area and don't let them dry out too long. I mist my plants daily. I have many plants mounted (they seem to like that) but I also have many growing in plastic and clay pots with different media. I have my plants growing outside under 70% shade cloth. I started with 50% but found it too bright for my area. I don't think Thailand is too hot for Tolumnias.

Nicest collection of Tolumnias I've seen. You have some real beauties there.
