Everyone should try a Psychopsis! They are wonderful orchids which, in my experience, are very hardy under a variety of conditions. Try again!
Years ago, when I really dove into orchids, I consistently killed what are now called Tolumnia, but then were included as Oncidiums. Psychopsis was then also grouped in with Oncidiums. Due to this, I avoided them. Only when the name changed did I dare try one! A couple of weeks ago I bought a P. papilio, ominously labeled as "Oncidium papilio", and my first thought was, "Well, this one's dead." In fact, though, it's thriving.
