It bloomed earlier this year and decided to bloom again! gotta love that. I started growing tolumnia last fall after I decided I wanted to focus on things that actually could like it around here - warm if not hot, dry summers... does have to go inside in winter, though. Have a couple other species and they're doing pretty good although neither of them have bloomed... so far anyway... this year.

anyway, here's to the fading summer (it's not officially fall yet is it?)

Very nice, I wish mine would bloom. Maybe next year, I've not had them long.

Very cute. I don't have any of these but I do think they are cool. It's officially fall here, leaves are a turnin.

Thanks guys... yeah they supposedly need near to full sun, or close it, and can't say they grow all that vigorously, and like I mentioned, the other two haven't flowered, so my guess is they're just kinda slow growing and need to build up to flower well... hopefully next year also for the other two (or three... hmm...) I don't have any hybrids, but do wonder perhaps they grow/flower more vigorously...

Default Tolumnia

I only have one, so this is based on small experience and small sample, but it seems if you give it the sun and the heat (along with some water), it'll produce flowers at least twice a year (or mine does).
Sometimes I even get a double spike out of a growth.
I won't say the flowers are very long lasting, but they're sure pretty when they are flowering.

I think they really do need a good watering every day to grow well.
