Default Browning spike on Psychopsis

Should I be concerned or do they just die back eventually? I got it in bloom last fall and it's rebloomed 5 times or more. It put out a new growth that grew to be a nice size pbulb and then one morning I discovered it had been eaten by something...no other pbulbs on it or any other plants have been affected since and I never saw any type of critter but the bulb was a loss none the less. No new growth since although it did flower once or twice since that happened...

Normally you wouldn't cut the spike as they can bloom for years, but the color makes me think its given all it can and I'd get the scissors!

I would cut the brown off and leave the green, and see what happens.
