Well, now the broughtonia sanguinea is looking pretty light stressed in the same spot, but it's been warm here, so guess it'll go outside where it'll get direct morning light and dapple light rest of day... the t. variegata is now in one of my growing cases right under the light and near the fan, crossing fingers.

anytime I've been near the equator the sun has felt far more pleasant than the horrendous blazing beams here now... but imho, I almost always saw or felt mistiness and saw at least thin layers of clouds... even in LA the coast the sun feels far less harsh... breezes and humidity and clouds i think do play a factor in light intensity, even in the way light waves are dispersed... just thoughts anyway

you'll have to excuse me, but what exactly does a "stiff" breeze feel like? ;P

Which species do you mean has pretty intense drought tolerance... calochila, variegata or velutina?

Yes, I'd think it's warm enough outside now. Caribbean nights are cool, so your sunny days and cool nights now should be fine. I wouldn't put anything in full sun.

Whole trees swaying, umbrellas blown over. You've been at the beach for a strong onshore breeze, haven't you? Surfers don't like it... makes the crests fall over prematurely.

A stiff breeze means flags are flapping horizontally. I don't remember right now the wind speed.
