odontocidium hans isler spiking
hello,
i have an odontocidium hans isler (pretty sure) that is spiking for the first time under metal halide. 3 spikes! is this too many? should i clip 1 or 2 or just let them all go?
also, once it blooms i would like to put on display in my cafe under just ambient regular lights. will this shorten flowering time or have any other negative effects??
thanks!

If your orchid is healthy, then there is no need to cut anything - I say let it go nuts and enjoy the show.
I often place any blooming orchids under dimmer lights, you wanna keep the lighting heats away from the blossoms. Just make sure the leaves are getting some decent light too.
Welcome aboard

I never cut any spikes. Not on any plant I have. I have had some spikes just blast on their own and if you cut anything, how do you know which one would have blasted (if any)? Keep well alone and let the plant develope as it may - that's my advice.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
