Well, I followed Roby's method - Very Easy Sterilisation Method - My Seedlings

This time I followed it to the dot - last year I tried it with gelatine..let's just say the poor little inflorescence cuttings were floating in the medium for a while, until I finally gave up No contamination though!
This time I found agar agar on a noodle shopping craze in a chinese supermarket Now all I need to do it sit and wait

You're welcome! It's really so simple, and if contamination is around 10%, it's perfect to me. You probably have most of the ingredients and materials at home - I used old jam jars and activated charcoal pills that we use for belly ache
I'm now waiting for the last blooms to fall off my phal, then I'll flask stem cuttings and we'll see!

Congrats on branching out! And so it has begun...once I got something other than a Phal it was all... up hill ... down hill for my wallet from there. The orchid bug is like a mosquito, it just doesn't quit. One day you'll look back on this post and smile with warm nostalgia, ahh my first Oncid...

I second that Oncids are more thirsty than Phals and some of them (can I say a lot of them?) like rather bright light.

Greenhouse trips are dangerous, as are orchid shows...

Sounds like you two are having much fun with orchids and doggies.

Oh orchid shows, we have one coming up in two weeks. And the other day I was thinking to myself 'Oh, I haven't bought an orchid in such a long time, I've been a good girl, I deserve something.' only to realize that I got a massive paph just a few weeks ago So, my only hope is to wait and see if somebody will mercifully pop some money into my orchid jar

Thanks Lotis. Yeah im really enjoying my orchids and learning about them but like you said it just hits you! Iv already bought 2 very cheap wilting phals and to be fair have got them looking and feeling much better as they were drooping and wrinkled and the stems were totally dead.
I have my oncid at the sunnier side of the house and yeah its really thirsty compared. Just beautiful.
Im going to be near a shop i know sells orchids with a friend today........dangerous lol i know they have dendrobiums, phals, oncids, cattleyas, and cambrias? But we shall see 😂 my wallets screaming NOOOOOO and i dont know that my conditions would work for alot.
Ahhhhh i would love a paph just cant find one here, was looking online though, gorgeous orchids.
