Default Brassia Toscan(a) in flower

This was tagged as Brassia Toscan, but I see a lot of pictures online of Brassia Toscana which appears to be the same. However neither name is registered with the RHS.

It was another of my impulse buys a few weeks back. It was all buds when bought, but others in the shop were open so I could see what it would look like.

It has a scent which hubby describes as 'fresh ground black pepper' and I think that's a good description.

It's very pretty. I like that a lot. How do you grow it?

Not sure yet as I've not had it long, but probably like my other Brassia, which means I will repot it to S/H when the flowers fade, then keep it in the greenhouse in the summer and the coolest room in the house in the winter (won't be massively cool). With S/H it will be kept with water in the bottom all the time, light will be brighter than Phals, but not full sun, temps will range from about 12C to about 28C on very hot summer days, but will probably average closer to 20C most of the time.

I've seen others post that Brassias like bright, cool, moist conditions, so that sounds like a good plan.
Nice one

That's very nice & great pics. Thanks for the tips on keeping Brassias, not this one but I have a new Brassia myself (still just a little guy). Good luck with yours.

Thanks Sonya.

Really hope I can bloom it again as I really love it. It's all closed up now so I think it's time to repot.
