Question Care questions for two intergeneric Tolumnia/Rodrumnias

Ran across these guys on eBay and well I won them BUT I'm wondering how best to keep them happy. I already have two Tolumnias so I assumed I'd keep them the same however I want to make sure I don't screw up because I keep my current Tolu in bright light and try to water frequently. One is bare root (except for several pieces coconut coir) in a clay pot while the other is in moss in very small clay pot (it's a micro mini).

These are the hybrids:

Zlm Orchidom Cocktail (Tolu Orchidom Good works Alameda HCC/AOD x Zel onusta 'Arbec' AM/AOS)

Rrm Orchidom Red Love 'Pedegfral' x Zel onusta AM-CCM/AOS

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer? And oh, these two will arrive bare root. They both have 5 fan, one also has five new growths.

I think you are good with the Tolu culture.

I found this thread, last post in the thread

You did the same thing as me. HAHA. Treat them how you would a Tolumnia.

Call me a sucker, my Buck Hollow came into bloom, better colors than last year and I suddenly remembered how great they are (oh and almost getting some at a show). And they're so compact!!

Really I had to fight a bit for these on ebay, lol. I've been wanting to find some that are different from those I see are quite common, nothing wrong with that though.

I got them couple days ago. I believe one of them has scale. I scraped the supposed culprits off with my nails and treated today with cinnamon/alcohol/water/dishsoap
concoction (took a guess at proportions ). I'm not so worried given these being small plants and arriving bare root. Plus I'm not potting them traditionally.

So I decided I'm going to try fiber pots, the kind you'd grow regular plant seedlings in. I put some clay pebbles in the bottom then filled half way with coconut coir. From there I basically just set the plants on top of the coir and stabilized with rhizome clips (if they function/stay in place well enough I'll keep them there until the plants have stabilized themselves with root growth).

Maybe I broke the "if it ain't broke don't fix it rule" by not copying my current Tolumnia potting exactly but they are intergenerics and I'd like to know if I can do even better with these. I guess you can say I tweaked the original recipe a bit. Will keep you all posted how it turns out. I'm a bit nerd-fully excited about these fiber pots, they seem like they could be great period.

Dumb part though is I went to work on the scale before taking pics to send to the vendor. From all the pics I saw online I really do think it's white scale. Only the one seems to have had it but I treated both. In a couple of weeks I'll treat with Neem if I deem necessary.

I have a Rodrumnia Mill Hollow x Tolumnia Baby Face and Rodricidium Apple Hollow X Rodricidium Maple Hollow this on is in spike!

I have them mounted on manzanitas wood from the pet store. It's a very hard wood that holds in moisture well. I covered the roots with sphagnum moss. They are doing great. I also keep a small humidifier next to them.

My genting pink lady I did end up potting with large bark mix. It also seems to be happy.

Good luck. I like the way these plants look even out of bloom.

What might make your plants different in cultural needs than typical Tolumnia hybrids is the Zelenkoa parent. Not a big difference, but Zelenkoa onusta is less tolerant of high temperatures and more sensitive to dry conditions than most Tolumnia/Rodrumnia hybrids. Just be aware they may need a bit more water especially in warmer temps.

BTW - The second hybrid is Zelumguezia (Zgz.) Orchidom Smashing.
