Rfdra going mad!
Hi All,
I took these photos of my Rfdra which is a Rehfieldara Jerry's Pick that I got in bloom last year (closer to a year and a half). It didn't do much for the longest time, and in the past month it has gone crazy. It's producing spikes on the spikes....is that normal? It's so big, I had a hard time getting the entire plant. Otherwise, it looks healthy. Appreciate your imput on the way this is coming along. Seems to be a bit much for a normal spiking. Thanks for looking! kiki

I posted this a few hours ago. Does anyone know if this is normal spike growth? Seems bizarre to see so many spikes on a spike. Anyone? kiki

Its, normal, it's just branching out - more branches more flowers for you.
Good growing!

Thanks ladies! Whew!
Sue, it's a Ada x Odontoglossum x Oncidium mix. I think it's the size of a Cym! I had no idea it would get this big, but I have to say it is one of my favorites. I'll post pics as soon as they pop open. kiki

It's just branching out; I've seen this sort of branching on other Oncidium hybrids as well. The only thing you need to worry about is staking the spike so it doesn't break under the weight of the blooms. From the looks of things, you're probably gonna get a spectacular display.

I think what we are seeing is a normal response to better growing technique as a result of the info on this wonderful board I know for me, my orchids have been doing (generally) better than ever due to better culture. I think that is what you are seeing. Just my

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Hey Ross, you could be right! I've learned alot from this OB site.
I want to show you all an update on this orchid taken today. I am a lousy photographer, so I put in 4 pics and hopefully you can make at least one of them out decently. This orchid drove me crazy for so long....it just didn't do anything! Wow, when it decides to grow, it goes crazy! I love it! kiki
