It is not the typical yellow dancing lady, of which there are a few varieties.
This plant makes much much bigger flowers as you are witnessing.
I like this one because it is very showy while the plant is that much bigger than small flowering ones.
Thanks NYCorchidman! I have been searching a while but wasn't successful. I haven't seen one myself i thought it was just a very very old dancing lady lols. but all of the dancing ladies i see that are old are still not as big. the spike is very woody almost tree-like. it is very showy indeed that's why when i saw it, i grabbed it immediately! are you familiar with the parentage?

Parentage: Shonan x Kaizumic Delight

If you compare this flower with smaller dancing lady, the coloring is different. The brown tone is more of dark chocolate on this while dancing lady is almost orange brown. Flowers are ruffled along the edge on this one, smaller ones are nearly flat, although some are slightly ruffled.

No matter how many years you grow dancing lady, the flower size will not change.

If you grow this plant well, it can make a lot more flowers than what you see on that spike now.

yup i saw pictures on google that has tons of flowers although i wouldn't see that till next year i guess. this plant needs repotting badly and the flowers were infested by aphids i had to wipe them off and check each flower! but they are all gone now and doing a little better.

Now the key will be to get those roots into a small pot. I would take some florist tape now and wrap the roots around the pot before they get any longer. Have someone help you. That way when they are twisted around the pot you can take it out of the pot and place it into a pot the same size. Oncids don't like to be over potted.

They are very big and the plant looks beautifully grown as well. Nice one.

I've seen these really large Dancing Ladies also and wondered the same thing. I thought it was just really good growing culture that made them so big. Now I"m going to have to look for one to buy! Very Nice.

Great to know it's a Jiuhbao Gold. I've got three of these and as far as I can tell, 2 of them are in spike right now. Will post pictures when the spikes come out of between the leaves.
