Default HUGE flower sized Brassia Brachiata

well i came back from our orchid meeting today with this Amazingly BIG flowered brassia Brachiata, it certainly was not cheap, but imho was worth it. plant is really good, established and truly strong and quite rare species to be found here, specially with its current size. and deep color marking.

the plant was collected nearly 25yrs ago somewhere in Chiapas or near by Chiapas area (Mexico).

flower size measured was 34.6 cm!! long making it the largest one i have seem or heard about, plant was nearly awarded, but i believe more judges were needed, (that actually raised the price from the person who sold it to me )

apologies for the picture, but without daylight, and me wishing to share it here at OB made me post this pics that are not good , and do not provide justice to the flowers in person, i will post better pics tomorrow with proper sunlight

as a bonus i came back with bunch of Draculas and masdevalia (without flowers) that came from a colombian orchid grower who visited us and provided us with a really nice presentation about the Colombian species.) so expensive day for me, DAMN ORCHID BUG, couldn't resist ... i hope you guys/gals can understand how that goes!! no more orchid for me this week... ha!

Antonio.

An impressive Brassia. Always good to buy a flowering plant.

Dios mío ¡¡es enorme!!

Pero ¿cómo huele? Las brassias suelen ser muy fragantes no?

How does it smell? Brassias are usually fragrant right?
