OMG. I've been impatiently waiting a week while the local nursery gets in some orchids. I specifically asked if they were getting Twinkles, because I missed having one. I should be able to get one tomorrow. Now I have something to strive for!

SJF, not sure where you are located, but based on your zone it seems to be near me. North Jersey Orchid society show is this weekend and there are several twinkles available from the participating vendors that I saw yesterday: yellow, white and pink/purple ones.

The show runs through tomorrow at 4 PM in Wayne NJ. Details on their website: North Jersey Orchid Society - Home Page

Thanks Carrie,
I don't think I can get up there this weekend. Thank you so much. Wish I could . I want one of each so badly. I live in Hillsborough in Somerset County. Where do you purchase plants in NJ?

I recently got a red twinkle from Angels Orchids. They are right down the road in MD. Its a great looking orchid although the smell is not too pleasant for this one.

I know where Hillsborough is as I used to work in Raritan and my boss lived in Hillsborough. I don't do much of my purchasing locally unless it is Trader Joe's, Home Depot or the like and usually an impulse purchase. I go into NYC a lot and once bought from Silva Orchids (Nepture NJ) at the Union Square Market. I also buy at the Phila Flower Show, but in my opinion, the offerings there have been declining the past few years. Some other sources: Waldor Orchids in Linwood NJ and Parkside Orchids in Ottsville PA.

Parkside was offering Twinkles at the NJOS show. It is probably about 1 hour's drive for you.

I was really excited about the NJOS show because of the vendors. I bought 6 orchids, all species. I'm a member of NJOS too and contributed 7 plants to the display and came away with 3 second place and 1 third place NJOS ribbons and this is my first show ever!

The Deep Cut Orchid show should be good. They were at the NJOS show. I won't be able to make it to that one as I am going to an out-of-town wedding.
And, yes the twinkles I saw last weekend were in bloom. You can call ahead to the vendors and have them bring one especially for you!
