It really is a great find, a plant like this at TJ price. what more could I ask for?

You have to see how big one of the flowers is! It's just humungous!!!

How are your milts going by the way?
All mine have survived the summer (so I think these are not cool growers as notoriously advertised they are) and tons of new shoots. I got so lazy, I should probably repot them now before they break out of the pot.
Are these supposed to be such slow grower by the way??

I think it depends on each store. I've found two in Manhattan, one in Chelsea, which is the one I usually go to, and there's another one in uptown. That one has a very limited stock of plants and flowers, while the one I normally go to has TONS of orchids along the windows of the store.

Ryan, you must get these plants. They are just AMAZING!
Not only they are very attrative and unique, but they are quite long lasting and one of the best smelling plants I've ever had!

Most of them are VERY nicely scented and some of them emit fragrance quite strong to a point where in the middle of the day, it can be overwhemling (in a nice way, of course!).

I always loved these plants but never bought any until this year as I always head how fussy they are and they are cool growers (I don't do cool growers, just don't)/
Well, I bought a whole bunch earlier this year. flowers lasted about 2 months on average, although my yellow miltoniopsis lasted shorter than that.

They all survived the summer heat fine. they all have lots of little new growths on them. I really have to repot them.

By the way, I think they will do amazingly well in Colorado as it doesn't get that hot there even in the summer, right? Well, I know it can get hot in the summer, but you have low humidity so by reducing light a little, the temp drops quite a bit.
I used to live in Utah and I remember being so hot in the sun, but being under a tree, it was a whole another world! and the summer evening, very cool and nice!

By the way, you might want to try these as s/h as these love humidity but humidity is low in Colorado.

I'm thinking of repotting some of mine in peat moss and some in s/h.

I hope not, but even if these all die somehow, I plan to buy these every time I see nice ones in season just so I can enjoy the flowers and their wonderful scent!

Yes, he has indeed (and not only in plants). I don't exactly know why, but I never do very well with Miltoniopsis. I guess summer is too hot here in Spain for them. They seem to do well in S/H though. At the orchid show in Barcelona (october 12), he bought me one and it's the one which has done best. The blooms a wilting now and I'm looking for a substitute. I'll try to find a scented one.

It gets pretty hot in the summer here as well and it gets even hotter inside my apartment.
Yet, mine all survived fine. I am still patiently waiting to see if I could rebloom them.

My Milts are still alive but they didn't do so good this past summer. They had too much sun and heat in the greenhouse. We couldn't get our shade cloth on until mid July and I was resorting to misting them to keep things cooled down. This resulted in brown spots on some of them. At least I think that is the cause. Many of them have new growths but I don't know how the roots are. I usually have trouble getting a good root base for some reason.

These aren't actually cool growers so much as they aren't hot growers. They cannot take too much heat as it stresses them. They do better at more intermediate temps on the cool side than actual cool temps. If they get too warm in the summer, they can often do OK if they can have a cooler rest at night. Several people I know who grow them in their homes under lights do better with these than I do in the greenhouse. Mine sort of get warmer than they like in summer and likely a bit cooler than they need in winter, so they don't actually flourish But I love them so much and keep trying.

I see. Good to know.

Well, mine are growing lots of new shoots, each pb has an average of three. some more, some less.
The problem is that many of these new shoots are very wrinkled, so I'm not sure if the roots are mostly damaged or my watering schedule is not good for them.
I plant to switch some to s/h, but I'm scared to lose one. I've seen all color combo at stores except for my white one, I would be so sad to lose the white one. It is also the most fragrant and largest one.

hmmm...

Could you divide a large one and only try half of it in s/H until you see if it works? I have also read that some of the leaf crinkling issue is inherent in these hybrids, but if the adult growths were not prone to it previously, then I would suspect not enough moisture. Either from too dry or not enough roots to take it up. I find it very hard to keep these 'evenly' moist as they are known to prefer.
