I haven't for at least 6 months and don't plan to if I can help it.
Based on my experience I am leaning towards thinking that these do not like it too hot, as in extreme temps too. ( even though the parents like it "warmer" ). Maybe its the high temps that trigger spotting - the plants are stressed ?
My basement temps do not vary that much. Just checked - temps haven't exceeded 75f since they have been down there. I removed the heat mat a while back when the temp went to 75f.
I do struggle with pleated leaf syndrome, some have them and some don't. They are all growing in the same conditions. They do look good - that photo was taken after we got back from a 2 week vacation, and they had minimal watering.

Thanks for the info. Right now mine do have to suffer warmer conditions than they should and I can't do much about it.

actually about the same. The accordion starts young and stays as the leaf grows unfortunately. The idea with the moss is to prevent any further problems - at this stage it appears to be working.

I have started to repot into larger pots. Some of these plants are 12in tall......I can't say already, cos I don't know what size they should be ! The new pots are those plastic pliable ones, used by the Taiwanese mainly for phals.
I have incorporated seedling mix and more sphag into the new media. Root growth is impressive and no rotting roots !
Repotting was a breeze - de-potted them and put them into new pots, surrounded the plants with new media - sides and bottom. The pliable pots are the way to go !

I think that I have the accordion-leaf problem fixed but it does look worse as the new leaves grow out. Hopefully the new mix is better suited. Fine roots = fine mix ?

they have come a long way in the past year ! I took a look at the pictures from a year ago. A lesson learned is that I should have repotted earlier and also put them in the basement under lights earlier. I have done that with my deflasked phals and its made a big difference.

Update. The first photo shows what I hope is the start of a spike. I wish!

The next is a full view - 23 plants. This hybrid definitely prefers cooler conditions with a high humidity

Mixed in are a couple of z triste seedlings that I deflasked a few weeks ago

An encouraging thread. Temps in the basement are more even than in a greenhouse. I hope to see flowers soon.

Wow, lots of fun following this.

When did they first germinate?
