Miltoniopsis throwing new fans! :)
Default Miltoniopsis throwing new fans! :)

Out of five miltoniopsis, all but one are throwing new fans. Some of those were already present at the time of purchase, but some are more recent, which makes me happy. I'm still wprried about them in the summer though.

By the way, I accidently damaged one new fan. It was bent because it was caught under roots. In trying to help it out, I broke it off about half way. Then I took a knife to cut two healthy roots off to make room for it to grow.
I should have done that first as that could have resulted just a little root loss instead of losing a little bit of roots and half the new fan.

Oh, well... I still have lots more.

The pictures are of different plants.
Red one, yellow one, white one ( sorry about the dark picture), and red with white edge/yellow center (one I chopped off the new fan half way, you can see the one at the bottom right in the pic)

Look more than OK to me! Congrats!

I have a problem with these I have one plant and trying to master the conditions.
My new growths have a bit of an accordian pleat at the tips although rest of growth growing well so I think I am slowly getting there too..
(the plant is reduced to 1/8th of what it was when given to me as a gift 1 year ago..)

my milt growths almost always originate from within the leaf. I have one - like yours in photo 2, which appears to have stalled. I am fairly new to milt growing. Is this typical to have 2 "types" of new growth ?

I am pretty much new to miltoniopsis as well.
All the new growths originate from within leaves because at the very base of where a leaf comes out, there's also a dormant eye. It's just that the ones growing from the very bottom of the plants have their leaves lost long ago.

I see new shoots coming out from in between leaves, at the base (still technically in between leaves), and some splitting the base of leaves then coming out.

So the new growth that I accidentally broke off grew back and look pretty good after about one month.
What's interesting is that a few of small new growths that were present at the time of purchase has completely stopped growing or died while all the new growth that started under my care is growing like crazy!
Maybe they are adapted to my hot apartment? wishful thinking but so far the little fans are growing fine.

This picture is of the same plant from the same angle as the very last picture from my first posting above.
notice how the tallest new growth is not there anymore. It just turned yellow and died.
