Question Miltonidium Bartley Schwarz 'Highland' AM/AOS

The first blooms on my plant are opening now and I'm wondering if I've been shipped the wrong plant. All descriptions I've found on the web say that the blooms are maroon with a white lip. Mine is chocolate brown with a bright yellow lip and yellow tips on the petals. Are there colour variations with this plant?

There should be little or no variation if it is truly 'Highland'. There is always the possibillty of mutation in the mericlone process, but it seems more likely you got the wrong plant. Is there any possibility the yellow could fade to white?

Regards,
Rick

Here is a photo of mine. I bought this at Lowes last week. The label stated that it was an Oncidium "Dancing Lady". The colors/style on the label look nothing like the plant that I bought(yellow and red etc...). After looking in an Orchid book, I have concluded that this is a Miltonidium. My question is, Does this classify as a type of Oncidium? Newb here

Miltonidium is an hybrid between the Miltonia and Oncidium
( Mtdm. = Milt. × Onc.)
and Miltonia and Miltoniopsis are in the Oncidium Alliance

It might be an onicidium intergeneric
It could be either
a Vuylstekeara (Odontoglossum x Cochlioda x Miltonia)
or a Wilsonara (Odontoglossum x Cochlioda x Oncidium)
or a Odontoglossum
or a Odontocidium (Odontoglossum x Oncidium)
This can give you a vague idea in the some of the differences with color and form - ODONTONIA (Odontoglossum x Miltonia)

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of these can give you a better lead than I.
You could always name it -
Oncid. NOID 'Driving Me Nuts'
