Default Miltoniopsis Maui Charm - a reliable bloomer in flower again

My Miltoniopsis Maui Charm seems to be a reliable bloomer for me. I bought it in bloom in November 2009, it flowered again in Sep/Oct 2010 and now it's in bloom again. Last year it flowered from one of two similar size growths from that year. This time it's flowering from the second of those, even though there are lots of other growths from this year.

I originally saw four spikes, but noticed a small fifth one today ALL coming from the same growth. Only two of them are in flower just now, but the angles don't allow a good pic from both. The only problem is that I don't seem able to grow it without lots of crinkling of the leaves. They really are accordion like.

Oh yeah, and it's strongly fragrant. Not the sweetest, but quite pleasantly, almost like tomatoes.

The first flower on each spike had a white lip (first pic), and lacked the lovely purple blush they usually have, later flowers on each spike were the expected colour though.

Beautiful!
I'm still struggling to be able to keep one of these alive, the 'sphag core of death' gets them all. Must have got through 5-6 of them already. I do have one in SH now with some new growths rooting, so hopefully this one will survive, even though the blooms aren't really a color I like.

Thanks everyone

Camille, this is the one I was talking about like your recent purchase... so many roots that the 'spag core of death' couldn't get them all!

Lucky you, I wish I could find one with so many roots, then I'd have a decent chance of keeping it alive!
