Default Brassia Gilded Urchin (Shooting Star) opening!

After a long wait, it has decided to start opening one of it's flowers! YEAH! I'll take pictures as soon as it opens and post them!

I've heard of gilding the lily, but I've never seen a gilded urchin! Sorry, bad joke. Sometimes I'm just so punny I can't help myself.

Congrats on those beautiful blooms!

So far I have not detected any scent, and I don't remember them having one last year when I bought it in bloom. I'm saddened by that, but it's still a very cool bloom in my book.

I find that mine smells like wood smoke, but you have to be up close and personal (nose right in there) to really smell it. They tend to last for quite a while too. So enjoy those lovely flowers.
