Default Trichocentrum tigrinum
Trichocentrum tigrinum Linden & Rchb.f., Gard. Chron. 1869: 892 (1869).

Comes from tropical dry forests, in Ecuador and Peru and elsewhere.

Loves hot and humid places, 18-28 ºC, around the year. Somewhat drier in winter and early spring. Likes to be frequently watered when growing, but drainage must be excellent (better to mount). The light doesn't need to be as strong as one may think by the leaves.

Minute pseudobulbous, fragrant blossoms and a short spur on the base of the column (see third photo)

The spur is characteristic of this genus.

the flower is near 5 by 5 cm (a bit more than that, actually), so 2 by 2 inchies

this follows the strategy big and few, I have a older photo of another species that follows the usual very small but really more
