You're not alone! I love Miltoniopsis! I only have one little seedling for now, but that is because I was intimidated for a while about their culture. Some books say they are difficult, but I think I understand orchids well enough now to realize that I have excellent conditions for Miltoniopsis.
I especially love the ones with prominent waterfalls, and ESPECIALLY the ones with blackish waterfalls!
But I think you are right, most people have trouble providing the cool, humid conditions that Miltoniopsis prefer. It is easier for many people to grow their warm-growing cousins, Miltonias. Personally, after seeing how my Miltoniopsis responded to my meager care I think they are quite vigorous and easy.
