Default Notylia barkeria

This one surprised me with blooms this year, as the plant wasn't looking that great, but she pulled through and put out a nice spike of tiny flowers!

Very unusual and pretty cool looking. Who are these guys related to? Also, where do you find such unusual orchids? I really like the odd balls and underappreciated critters, and I have to say, your collection is the oddest (in a good way!!) and one of the most unique. Do you have a favorite vendor or do you just grab different species at shows and stuff?

Hi Steve,
I have found most of my species from either Louis DelFavero in Tampa or Duncans Flora. The rest I pick through and buy at various orchid shows and sales. I've bought quite a few from Woodland Orchids in NC and OrchidBabies in AL at shows and Andy's Orchids has lots of species too!
I am a species nut and the odder the better for me!
I'll even take the stinky ones

Very pretty. Thanks for sharing some of your vendors too. I am going to have to check them out at the next show.

It always scares me though, as dying plants have been known to send out a last ditch effort of flowers...
