Default Trichopilia advice

I have just acquired a young Trichopilia Evaline x galeottiana from Orchids Limited and, since I've managed to kill two Trichopilias in the past, I'd be very grateful for any advice on their culture, particularly potting medium (no mounts). Many thanks!

No replies so I'm bumping this to the top again! Surely someone out there is growing Trichopilias! Help, please!

Dear Shirley,

Small pots, any medium, and low light - think Phalaenopsis without so much heat and humidity. In nature they grow under remarkably dark conditions.

Thank you, Eric. That's some help to me. Seems there's very little culture info on the Internet so I'll just do the best I can.

Shirley your plant consists of 1/4 tortilis, 1/4 marginata and 1/2 galeolliana. Tortilis is a cool grower, low light but the marginata and galeolliana are intermediate to warm and light in the 2000-3000 fc range. Heavy water in the growing season and less in the winter during their drier season. They want to be moist but not soggy.

I grow my suavis on my phal table but my marginata and fragrans are grown with strong light from 3 pm on.

Hope this helps.

Brooke

What about hennesiana?

I recently acquired a "stick-mounted" mature plant,(5 bulbs, 1 new growth, has flowered several times), and am trying to figure out it's optimum location.

THANX!

Hennesiana is one that I've never seen so certainly not very common in this area. I hope you'll post pictures for us when it flowers next. Thanks!

I´ve got one hennesiana, bought it 2 weeks ago.., I am looking for advice too, but It´s hard to find, hennesiana seems to be rare among growers. I hope I´ll find out the right conditions...
