Reading around a bit, Miltonia are more tolerant of extremes and Miltoniopsis aren't as much.
For South Florida, if you're growing outside, Miltonia are probably a better fit. Miltoniopsis seem to be better fit for indoor growing, especially if you're keeping it cooler at night than during the day.
If you have a Trader Joe's near by, you can probably find a noid Miltoniopsis hybrid that's inexpensive. The ones near me have a lot of plants from Matsui.
