I haven’t had this long, but it seems to be doing quite well. Once in spike and buds emerge approximately how long does the flowering process take? I’m also wondering if I should water a little more frequently when flowering? Right now I water just as approaching dryness so about every 6-7 days. I think the roots and plant look great so I’m hesitant to change anything, but I’m always open to advice and tips.

Like the rest of the Oncidium tribe, it should not dry out ever. So you should increase watering frequency a bit. Also like the rest of the tribe, spike development is slow, can tease you for weeks or even months, so be patient.

Thank you, Roberta. So you recommend watering when it is between damp and wet? It’s slightly damp, just approaching dryness when I water now.

I hope that spike doesn’t tease too much longer 🤣

I think that the range between damp and wet is a good target. Moss looks good so there should be good aeration, which of course is always the target. That spike may tease you for awhile... buds are just barely forming. I think it has a way to go.

Depending on temperatures and potting media I might water this 2-3 times a week.

That’s been about the frequency…about every 2-3 days.
