Default Huge Onc. Butterfly Orchid

This is an Oncidium Intergeneris Alliance Psy Mariposa Onc. Papilio x Onc. Kalihii 'Green Valley' . It is the first flower from this plant and I was told that it is a continuous bloomer for years to come. On top of that there is new growth coming out as well.

Wow Brandank, gorgeous flower... I am still waiting for my Psycopsis kalihii 'Big' and my Psycopsis Mendenhall to decide it's time to start producing a spike...

I have a Mendenhall version, quite nice.

If the new growth that you are talking about is right behind the flower, then that is the next sequential flower to come out. It won't start to bloom until the first flower dies off, mine have been lasting about 2.5 months. Some have more than one spike however.. maybe that's what you were talking about!

By all means, when it finished the current bloom DO NOT cut the spike as it will continue to bloom again 'n' again from the end of the current spike. It's been on my list for some time now but I always manage to "see" another before that one comes to mind. Very nice!

Wow, that is a huge bloom. What an impressive show you have there. Your other plants look good, too.

Jeklee - I found one at Orchidaceae, Inc. - second one down - Orchidaceae, Inc.
Rozanski has them too but out of stock. I bet if you give them a call, they may have one or two hanging around

- Orchid Products for Rozanski Orchid House, Pinellas Park, Florida, 727-235-3291,
