Default What kind of Oncidium is this?

Hi!!

I'm new to orchids, especially the Oncidium Alliance.
Purchased these orchids at Trader Joe's and they
were labelled simple Oncidium.

Can anyone give me an idea what they might be?

I apologize in advance for the poor pics.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tom,

The first picture looks to be Colmanara Wildcat 'Bobcat'... Colmanara is a cross of Oncidium, Odontoglossum, and Miltonia. Because there were recent taxonomic changes, Colmanara Wildcat would be properly named Odontocidium Wilcat (Odontoglossum x Oncidium).

The second picture is familiar, I have seen the hybrid many many many times before, but never bothered to look at the tags... It looks to be another intergeneric hybrid of Brassia, Oncidium, Odontoglossum, and Miltonia (Bakerara)...

Good luck on growing them, they are easy orchids... don't overwater, it is best to underwater Oncidiinae genera...

-Pat

Edit: Added the missing 'l' in the first reference to the intergeneric hybrid Colmanara... oops!

can you take another picture of the second one? It looks kinda familiar to me, but I can't quite say what it is with all the backlighting.

I agree that the first one looks like a Colmonara Wildcat (or whatever it is that they're calling them now).
