Vuylstekeara Surprise!
Default Vuylstekeara Surprise!

I got this cute little Vuyl. Michelle Rehfield ‘Pacific Blue’ from Akatsuka in late March. It was only around $7 because it was supposed to be around two years until its first bloom. About a month ago I noticed that it was throwing a spike, and flash forward to today and it’s blooming! Has anyone else had an experience where their orchid has surprised them with an unexpected early bloom?

Enjoy the pictures and happy growing!!

Have never grown these but a pre-term bloom is always a happy day. Lovely little orchid!

Stunning colour. Yet another to go on my rapidly expanding list!
Hope I can find one in Australia, sometimes certain crosses are only available in certain countries, very frustrating. Ive got a few on my list that I doubt I will ever be able to get. Won't stop me looking though!

Love it! It's always nice to have a plant surprise you with blooms! I have a Vuylstekeara, too... it was doing quite well until I moved. It seems it's quite intolerant of the water quality in the new house, unfortunately.
