Beautiful. Not sure what they are though. I don't really grow oncidiums much.

They are Oncidium intergeneric hybrids. Without an ID tag or label that came with the plant, a name some one might try to assign is just a guess.

Just grow them for their appearance and don't worry about ID too much.

If ID is important to you, I suggest buying plants that have an ID tag.

Hello. Thank you fro your answers. well i mostly prefer buying what i like, and then looking to mats them with registered hybrids.
from what i ve post, the last one is an oncidium sharry baby.
the one with orange-red color and many flowers is the wilsonara eye candy pinkie.
the one which is purple and spoted is a new hybrid from inca orchids. not registered yet. it will be in market to 6-7 years.
and i keep looking for the rest.

I don't think there's a Sharry Baby in the lot.

i think the last one is a sharry baby of some variety. It smells full like chocolate and i found that it is really look alike with the oncidium sharry baby red fantasy and the sharry baby ruby doll varieties?

There are so many hybrids out there, that have been bred and re-bred without regard to tracking breeding, it is impossible to determine what an un-labeled hybrid may be.

A Sharry Baby is a hybrid from a very specific lineage of species and hybrids. Add another parent plant into the hybrid lineage, it's no longer Sharry Baby, it is something else. There are many look-alikes and plants with similar scents.

I agree with Ray, none of yours is a Sharry Baby. I own a labeled Wilsonara Eye Candy 'Pinky', I don't see one in your pictures.

Buying un-labeled plants and trying to match to a named hybrid is no way to develop a collection of properly labeled plants.

There is no problem growing unlabeled plants, just grow them and enjoy, but please leave them unlabeled.

well, lots of question marks and whys from me.
i dont see why there is that way of answering to new members.

First of all, and i need i have to explain you that because you didn't understand. I said that i have a variety of Sharry Baby which of course means something relative with that but yes an other hybrid. because of the scent the color the patern etc.

Secondly, i want to buy my plants because i just like them. Then i try to figure out what kind of crossing is that and as much as i can to match it with some others talking about pseudobulbs, leaf, color of leaves and blooms . in that way i know how to treat them the best.

I think it is also right to say that all of us have buy plants with wrong labels so i dont really see why yours has to be the right example of the wilsonara eye candy pinkie.

i will attach some pictures of labelled plants of Wilsonara Eye Candy Pinkie, which make me believe i got that plant. (its pictures from european and american shops)

Finally, of course i CAN label my plants what ever i like or i believe its right. But the sure is that you can't tell me what i can or can't do.

Zoi, You have beautiful orchids, and I feel you are doing a good job growing them. I am new, have only been growing phals and oncs for less than a year. Every time I bought a NoID beauty, I would go to the internet and grower photos, trying to ID it. I made several mistakes, thinking a certain Onc was the exact one when I compared my orchid to the experts. I had the same response as you, telling me it was a oncidium intergenetic. The ones telling me that and explaining why, all have been growing orchids for 20, 30, 40 years. I respect what they tell me. As far as ID's I trust the experts here. There are time they disagree in a medium or the importance in pH in well water , a hypothetic example, But what I do is read it all, and choose the best condition for me. All my plants are dropping blooms, but I have found the best conditions for me, and they are almost all, growing new leaves, and I trust they will sometime in the next year or following year produce beautiful blossums.

You call your self kid in you nick, so I am assuming that you are younger than I am, and I would guess, most of the moderators and members are closer to my age (78)
than your age. Many were here when the Orchid Board was started several years ago.

If you have problems in the future with your orchids, this is the place to ask and get expert advice.

Of course you can name your plants anything you want. I think what the last two experts were telling you, was a Sherry Baby is a registered name of one type of orchid, and if a Sherry Baby in some nursery is bred with another orchid, registered or not, it is no longer a Sherry Baby, but an Oncidium intergenetic, that is not labeled nor registered by the ones that care about labels but just want to get beautiful orchids that people like me buy for the beauty labeled or no. I personally don't care. Only half of my phals are labeled, and none of my oncidium are.
The internet is easy to misinterpret because it is more difficult than face to face communication. Perhaps you are being too sensitive to what the experts were telling you. Lighten up and you will enjoy and become an informed orchid grower here. We live all over the world, and I know there are several members here from your country. They can advise you in growing conditions in your area and climate.
