Default Rodrumnia Flirtation help

I’m an orchid newbie and I recently bought this Rodrumnia Flirtation at a plant show. When I bought it I asked if it needed to be repotted because it’s obviously growing over its current pot. She told me to leave it in the pot for at least another year.

Is this what you would recommend?

And if you do what’s the best way to make sure it’s getting the water it needs? Maybe soaking it for a little while or letting it sit under some running water?

Any tips for my new plant would be great! Thanks!

Don't worry about the "escaped" roots... this is basically a Tolumnia - which absolutely needs to dry out between waterings. When you do pot it, a basket with lightly-packed sphagnum (lots of air, rapid drying) will work nicely. Water it, let it dry out for a few days (depending humidity, you didn't say where you are located) Then repeat. But the wet-dry cycle is vital. No soaking...

Well, I'll stick my toe in the water. Two schools of thought here: Tolumnias and your Rodrumnia will do fine mounted. It is so potbound, you could just consider it mounted and leave it. OR, you can repot it in fine bark in a slightly larger clay pot.

Either way, like a Tolumnia, they need good light. They will "blush" when the light is right. Water thoughly and let them dry out. Good air circulation is important to prevent rot. Personally, I've had no problems with mine growing in clay, bark and high light. I water 2x a week by pouring through. Easy, carefree plants. Search for DVOS post in the Oncidium forum. (I'm unable to copy the link).

Thank you both! I’m in Florida so it’s always humid! I’ll just leave it where it is for now, water twice a week with no soaking.

Good advice so far, but I'll make it even simpler for you. Just put this pot and all into a suitably sized basket with no additional moss or anything. Plenty of sun, water well but let it dry completely before watering again, a little fertilizer once in a while. That is all you need for many years of happy growth with this.
