We cover the blueberries but how do you cover a large cherry tree successfully?

Shannon, just a friendly word of caution. Raisins (and grapes) are known to be toxic to dogs.

If you get hold of some live meal worms, you can raise them and always have a supply. Kids and grandkids can learn about the beetle life cycle. And your friends will know you keep insects in the house.

Yes I do know this. I do believe the Turtle is indestructible. She can just be a bad dog. I make chocolate covered cherries at Christmas time and one year I had them on the table setting up before I put them in there tins. I thought I had them in the middle of the table so she couldn't get at them. Well----She some how got a corner of the wax paper and pulled it off the table and ate 42 cherries. I found out early in the morning when she stared throwing up cherries, chocolate, the white stuff and cherry steams all over the house. We're talk-en semi sweet chocolate. I got on the internet to see if there was anything I could do for her and it was past time. She never skipped a beat, stink-en little dog. Shes my Basset hound, and just loves to punish me

Right. Have you ever done it? It is a pain! The net gets stuck on the berries/cherries/branches and then you need to keep moving the ladder and getting the net free and, after you get it all perfect and go into the house, you get a good thunderstorm that blows the net half-way off and you are out there doing it all again! I had a neighbor who tried to grow cherries and the birds always found their way under the net. He tried shiny pans, a fake owl, and all kinds of other tricks but finally just cut down the tree. Yeah, it would be easier to catch the robins and send them your way. :|

Ha ha. I am about to order lacewings, lady bugs and preying mantis. Got to get my biological control in order.

Somehow the orchards manage. 😀 Yep. We gave 5 acres, remember, I know how hard everything is!

I don't hate all bugs...I could deal with your beneficials. Try riding around all afternoon with a tank of sun oil scraping gypsy moth egg cases off 5 acres of trees.
