Bulbopedilum's suggestion, imgbb.com, caught my interest.
I've uploaded some new [today's] pics to try.

Phalaenopsis Project

Ornithophora radicans

Yellow Catt Hybrid + Tillandsia Hybrid and Tree Fern in Background

Lamb Hass Avos

Spathoglottis kimballiana

I've just previewed this post. So far, I like this Hosting Site the best.

Picture quality is good, and clicking on the resize bar does not bring ads! Seems like a keeper.

Don't even need resizing. Great!

Have you tried Flickr yet? It's free and there's an entire group featuring orchids on trees.

I had signed up with Flicker, but never tried them. Something I read somewhere, either in Flicker's Terms of Service, or elsewhere, put me off on using them. It might have been something about they're planning to be doing something similar to what Photobucket did, stopping 3rd party hosting, or charging for it. I don't remember exactly now. Someone was considering following suite.

I've been a Flickr member for years, and am now in the process of moving way from that site. They (or rather parent company yahoo) has been bought by Verizon, and no one knows what that's going to mean for Flickr. There are fears that they may try to monetize the site or shut it down entirely, as Flickr stopped turning a profit years ago when membership started to plummet. Flickr died the minute Yahoo took over, and it's a shadow of its former self. Look at what's happing to other popular hosting sites. Picassa is gone, and Photobucket is charging ridiculous amounts to be able to share photos on other sites.

For now I'm testing out an open source photo hosting site, called Piwigo. The only thing you pay if not hosting it on your own server (which I'm doing) is the cost of server space and the maintenance/updates that is done for you. So far I'm quite enjoying it, but will have to ask my more tech savy boyfriend to write a plugin for it in order to be able to share photos on forums via bbcode.

Camille, I was nervous when Yahoo bought Flickr but nothing catastrophically bad happened. I didn't know that Verizon purchased Flickr. It might be a bad thing... or it might not be.

I have noticed that many of the people I follow haven't posted any photos for a long time. One of my orchid friends who used to frequently share on Flickr says that he now shares on Instagram.

Even though participation seems to be down, several of the people I follow still share some really nice things. Right now when I checked my stream I saw this photo of a dangling Bulbophyllum.

Also, I enjoy many of Flickr's features. It's really useful that I can easily search my favorite photos. Groups are great and I really love the gallery feature.

Hopefully Verizon wont ruin a good thing! But if they do I'll probably switch entirely to Google Photos. I already use it to automatically back up the photos that I take on my cell phone. So all my photos are already there anyways. The problem is that it's not easy to make some of the public.

Thanks for telling us about Piwigo! It's good to have options!

I am in the throws of testing Piwigo out on my own domain with a hosting site for my new online album iteration.

Mike's Photo Gallery - Alaska - Hawai'i & Elsewhere

I'm hoping that I can simply link to the photos in the gallery for posting to forums like Orchid Board.
That would make it unnecessary for me to use a third party host.
All I would need to do is add the BB code with the url of the photo to be displayed in a post.
I am thinking of doing it without a plugin, or utility.
I think what I need to do is confirm that the host for my online album will allow linking to the photos.
Some will not.
I'd hate to pay for a year's hosting, then get kicked off for violating the terms of service after a few weeks.

I've asked the question.
But, I got an ambiguous answer back.
I need to go back and ask the question again for clarification.
I just have too many irons in the fire right now - e.g., pressure washing the roof, replacing the lanai roof, monitoring the ripening of avos, bananas, oranges, etc.
Asking that question again is of very low priority right now.

EDIT:
test of linking to pics in my photo gallery:

It does work!
You simply add: [img]photo's location URL[/img]
I will be adding © watermarks to all photos added to the gallery when it becomes fully functional.

Your multi exposure shot is gorgeous!! What an amazing sunset (or sunrise?)

I had no idea that hosts could impose limitations on what you can and can't do. I don't see why sharing photos would be a problem? I'm going to have to look into it, I think my boyfriend installed Piwigo on the server space he has via a hosting service, and not on his personal server...

This is my Piwigo site, I only have a few photos on it because I'm spent most of my time trying different themes and finding extensions to do what I want. Next step is to go fiddle around in the CSS to change the font/size/color of the different text elements.

Camille's photo gallery

I'm also going to test getting a photo over here:

Edit: It works!! The vertical photo is quite large, probably because I didn't resize enough before uploading to piwigo.

Nothing has happened yet since Verizon bought Yahoo because the takeover didn't take effect until this summer. For now Flickr is the same as usual and I would love to continue using it, but I'm feeling cautious and prefer to wait and see what is going to happen over the coming months. I hope Verizon will try to bring it back to its former glory rather than destroy it completely.

For now I'm using Piwigo to showcase my favorite photos rather than upoad everything, as I do with Flickr. At least I have my backup plan in place if Flickr were to disappear.
