Got more than orchids blooming around the yard right now.
While this one does bloom almost continuously throughout the year, it had been catching my attention recently with its almost over powering fragrance as I walk by its shrubby tree. It sits between the driveway palms where I have mounted my Den. anosmum and Den. aggregatum. As I walk from one Dendrobium to the other I walk next to this tree. The fragrance of the flowers is so strong that if it wasn't such a nice fragrance, I'd say it was like getting slapped in the face with a wet wash cloth.

PuaKeniKeni, or 10˘ flower

The name comes from the fact that the flowers were used to make leis that sold for a dime. They're still used to make leis. but, they cost much more than that now.
The flowers start off with a creamy white coloring.

Then as they age they turn a brownish orange color.

The citrus trees are blooming, orange, lime, lemon and tangerine trees. These are Murcott, or Honey Tangerine blossoms

And finally, the avo's have been blooming. We have 3 types, Sharwil, Ota and Lamb-Hauss. They should give us avo's 6 to 9 months out of the year. This is the Sharwil nearly done blooming and beginning to set fruit.

We also have lychee, longan, rambutan and jaboticaba trees started. They are still too young to bloom yet. We are waiting with much enthusiasm for these to begin bearing fruit.
We have gone fruit tree happy since buying and moving in here.

Mmmm for litchi.......and for all the other plants you can grow in your climate. As a teen a friend had a tree in his yard and I was introduced to the perfect flavour of home-grown and ripened fruit.

As a kid we did move around quite a bit. But, we always seemed to have at least one fruit tree in the yard, an apple tree. One of those trees is the reason Golden Delicious is still my favorite apple. Often we also had pear and cherry trees to scramble through and stuff our faces from. Your post has reminded me of that. I had forgotten. Might be the reason I'm so hot on putting fruit trees in. Some people seem to think I have a few loose screws. I'm in my mid 70's and still planting trees.

Yep, not to mention passion fruit and mangoes. The song by Ed Sheeran - Castle on the Hill , triggered my longing to go back to the places I grew up in and around......and a trip down memory lane.
