We live on the coast on a bay island waterfront with views from N to the S/E.

There is nothing stopping the wind from the N to S/E from hitting us here. We are very open to a big wind and designed to get through a massive storm.

It has been the best peak growing season we have had for decades.

And a not Tillandsia ring in. Just had to post it. Got a 70 plant buy real cheap.
We already have Platycerium bifurcatum Australia elkhorn growing. They are well established and we can take heaps of grow bottons off them. Need to get a good contact for some South East Asia staghorns. They only grow by spore.

Platycerium compacta or netherlands. It is an elkhorn so we will not have to buy any more. They will produce plenty of grow bottons because they are elks. They came as tube stock with as many as 8 plants per very small plastic pots each.

WoW!! Impressive collection! I only have a very small number (around 20). I do soak mine for around 15 minutes, in a large container every 4 days (in winter-less in summer) and rarely mist them. Many of them are in glass globes, and to go around, take them out the globe, mist them, let them dry, then go and put them back is more time than I have. Hence the real reason I don't mist, I soak. What you have look fantastic!!

Yes you do have a very nice collection and have some very hard environmental issues to get over. It really is a huge credit to you.

Am in my 60th year and about to go back to school to increase my training in an area I truly love and that is social behavior.

So not so much time for watering and a watering system is needed. Have been buying a lot of different watering bits a pieces cheap out of China and of all places Bunnings Hardware which is cheaper than China sometimes.

Have tried many different ways to water. From my horticultural background I know those little fiddly micro sprayers or jets get clogged with algae so have no need to go down that road.

Am about to put in a watering system that resembles rain drops. So the water falls off the roof , shelving and directly from the sprinklers.

If you make a watering line go into a circle so the start and end of the watering line is connected at the main water out flow point. It evens up all the sprinkler heads along this watering line. It gives the water outlets all the same pressure at the same time. The benefit this gives is to increase your water delivery from large sprinkler heads without one sprinkler dominating and another in the same water line just not really working.

T. velickiana These are new here for us and they have just adjusted to our climate after being in a cold part of Australia and housed in a hot house.

The 1st posting of a lichen by me here.

Now the start to something I have been up to for longer than I care to say. I will find the name of this lichen. This lichen I have harvested from my own grown stock.

It sells mostly to terrarium people. Placing sphagnum moss under this lichen helps it to keep up to the water needs of a Tillandsia. When it changes bright dark red it is as dry as and will soon turn to dust without water. It has this real nice orange colour when happy. Turns green then yellow before it turns to slime from being too wet.

It is hanging from the roof.

It is the Golden Hair-lichen Teloschistes flavicans. It is very rare and is a different shape in different places around the world. A very, very old plant. They are exstremely pollution sensitive.
