Default Warblers! 2016

Hi all,

I guess I was a little less trigger happy with my camera this year, and so I have fewer pictures of Warblers this year. But I did get away with some nice ones this past spring. I haven't been out yet this season (Fall) so the possibilities for more pics exist. Here is the first one, the Pine Warbler. I love these little guys because they are among the first of the migrant warblers to return to breed and one of the last to leave in the fall. When they stand in the sun they can look like they are gold plated, or like someone took them and dipped them head first into gold dust.

Default Magnolia Warbler

Here is one I shot at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. This is the Magnolia Warbler. Once these warblers start showing, you know migration is in full swing as this is one of the true neotropical species. The feelings Spring Migration evoke in me are very hard to describe, but all so pleasurable. Even fall migration does not rival it. I can't wait until next May.

Here is one who's song reminds me of a party toy whistle for kids. The ones that were cylindrical and had a little fan that you blew into. You can't see it in this pick but the bird has some nice reddish areas on its back. The arch under the eyes is diagnostic for the species. In the picture it has found some bugs under the Walnut leaves.

The classic Masked Marauder. Or Bandit. Which ever you like. The official name is the Common Yellowthroat. And yes, it is a warbler.
