It is a beautiful bird that old folks say brings you happiness....as in the song: "I wish you blue birds in the spring...."

I love your bird pictures! You must be a very patient person or have amazing telephoto lens. As I now live in a small city, in a yard with few trees, I will enjoy bird watching through the lens of your camera. Thank you for posting. Do you participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count? Since you seem to like birdwatching, it is a great way to help collect data while doing something you enjoy.

I put my data in on a daily basis to ebird.org. Everytime I go out I record what I see and approx numbers of each bird species. I love doing that. I do participate in the backyard bird count as well as the Christmas Bird Count and Big Day in May.

My lens is a three hundred mm prime (it does not zoom). I just can't see myself carrying around a huge bazooka lens.

Great photography! What a proud, little bluebird.
We get these in our backyard now and then. One even nested in one of our cherry trees (? I thought they needed an enclosed nesting place!). In our town, a group tries to keep the blue bird houses free for blue birds but they don't get many residents.*

*Correction...they get plenty of house sparrows....

I see bluebirds fairly often in summer here in Georgia (common, but not abundant). Mostly they nest in something other than bluebird houses, since I see few houses relative to the number of bluebirds.
