Apparently these are a new ?craze? in Europe...

The colored portions are where some velvet like substance has been sprayed onto the plant.

Oh, and if you thought the dyed flowers were bad ...

Someone on another forum has told me that items like the upper ones have already crossed over to this side of the "pond."

Here in the US too.
My Homedepot has a section of sprayed plants.
There's always a big table filled with spray painted phals and succulents.
As for why... I mean. Your buying it as a disposable centerpiece anyhow. I can see how gold leaves look great on the Christmas table

It is sad though. At least the succulents live through it.

Why can't they just stick to making colorful paintings..and leave alone the natural beauty of Nature. So disgusting. I understand if it is on artificial, plastic plants..but spray paint on live plants..

Yeah, I have seen the spray painted succulents in our local big box stores too..so hated it too!

Uh yeaaaaa I've been seeing those around here for a year+ now. I guess I can see the decorative appeal in the right setting/home...but it's not something I find attractive or appealing.

What I'm most surprised w/is how expensive some of them are! Hell, you can go buy a can of spray paint and some cheapo small plants and make your own for a fraction of what I've seen some of them selling for. And yet...people are buying them. To each his own, I suppose.

Garish toys for those who need to demonstrate their unyielding lack of good taste...
