I thought the top photo, with the rainbow coloured leaves, was photoshopped. I guess people who find this attractive are the same ones who buy glittery pink christmas trees.

Definitely not for me.

It must be to the taste of some people, otherwise there would be no market for them. I like plants more natural though.

some just take a different approach to making orchids acceptable decorative houseplants instead of the run of the mill greenhouse orchid that may not have what it takes to sit on the dinner table..

also these come out of the same countries that send pro golfers out in pink pants green socks and striped orange shirts

I found their website and it looks like they sell a lot of different flocked and decorated plants, along with some waxed bulb amaryllis they tout as being no water flowers.

Their phal page is exceptional. Not only do they have the "velvet" flocked and "gilded" plants, there are some with airbrushed flowers and leaves covered in GLITTER.... This is reminding me of a crafts project gone wrong...

You mean not a 'good thing', right?

I've seen Sanseveria with the tails of the leavs painted.. horrible.. and here in Italy phalaenopsis with blu (but also green and pink) flowers. Usually they are bought by people that can hardly recognize an orchid from a carrot. All others abhor these... well.. "stuff".

Eww wow! At least with the dyed flowers, you can still tell if the leaves are healthy, and plus the plant doesn't need the flowers in order to live anyway. The leaves, though, are directly attached to the crown, so... I imagine these would fall apart too quickly for even their intended market.

Plus it's confusing that there even is a market for real plants that would look fake to anyone (no matter how little someone knows about Phals, it should be obvious that they wouldn't naturally grow neon blue leaves).
