Tiny Mushroom in the pot
Default Tiny Mushroom in the pot

So, what I thought was just one of the bark chips in my paphiopedilum potting mix grew a little taller over the course of a few days and now I see it is a mushroom of some kind.

I took a closer look and there are two more in the same pot. These look they are attached to each other.

Should I leave them or pull??
Or eat them in my soup?

Oh, by the way, the ugly brown mark on the leaf was done by a big slug, can you belive it??

I thought it was a fungal rot and sprayed like crazy only to find out one night this slimy gross thing was just scratching the leaves all over! Yep, I killed it right on the spot.

Those might actually be edible, but I wouldn't risk it. Most mushrooms are not poisonous, but taste awful. The few that are poisonous are really nasty. Only six varieties are lethal.

It looks like some of your bark chips have some resident mycelium. I would pull out the affected bark and a few more pieces around it. Parasitic mushrooms (which these almost certainly are) will break down the bark faster but are otherwise harmless. If you do want to keep them, don't let the spores mature, or the mushrooms will become much more prolific.

Thanks for the input.

My pictures are not angled to show the body of the mushroom, but it has off white body with the brownish top (whatever the real name for that part is). so they reminded me of certain muchroom sold at a Japanese grocery stores. lol

I will take them out. They look like they are indeed attached to bark piece.

Yeah, I always just pull out any mushrooms that I may find in plants- even if they look cute
