Default Thanks. I think that we all need a little

push once in awhile. Nothing helps someone who is having problems like having a positive attitude. I have tried to pass this on to the people who I used to dialyze with as I go back periodically to visit. I figure that since they see that so far, I am doing well, that it will inspire them. The poor souls need it. Some are in much worse condition than I was ever in and that is why I do it. It makes me feel better because I do care about my fellow man--I cannot imagine what it would be like to be that bad off.

Default Well, I have been off to the races this month

on the treadmill and lifting. Today, after lunch, I am going to do my normal exercise routine and then walk three miles. I have all ready walked forty four miles this month and my overall goal is to walk eighty miles before the end of the month. It is probably a good thing that I have because I have not been losing any weight. I think I may have to go on a diet in addition to my exercise routine. Diet is a four letter word for sure, and I don't know if the weight gain I have experienced since getting our of the hospital is due to muscle weight gain or what, but I don't think I can hurt myself by pushing away from the table a little bit sooner.

Are you taking any meds? Sometimes that can be the culprit. It is true about pushing away from the table. Also true is weight gain from mindless eating...grazing.....during the day. Keeping up such a pace as yours is bound to take the pounds off. You are doing awesome! kiki

Default Yes, I am taking buckets of them

The only one that I am sure increases the appetite is prednisone. I am only taking 5 mg of it but will be for the rest of my life. I don't know about the other anti-rejection medications-if they cause you to be hungry. I do know that I am still swollen where they cut me to put the kidney in. As far as eating is concerned, the only meal that I seem to have a problem with is the dinner meal. I may talk to the doctors about giving me some kind of regimen that has me eating most of the time, but in very small measures. I know that is what some of the diets promote-small helpings many times a day.

Default After talking with the wife, I am sure that

there is some swelling due to my medications. I guess I have to redouble my efforts in order to keep some of it off. By the time I am done with the treadmill this morning, I will have knocked off at least fifty miles this month. I have to figure out what to do with my exercise day. I need to replace one of the exercises I am doing with something else. I will just have to think what I am going to change it to. At the end of this month, I am supposed to be able to do light abdominal exercises.

Gym, Gym... Never heard of him. Is he new to OB? Ha Ha Ha! Actually I should be getting into shape as well. It's just that the darn cross trainer is in my basement and my orchids are two levels above me then . Oh well. I'll just work out, then look at orchids!

Did you ever try the exercise ball? Lots of people swear by it and it's suppose to be good for abdominal strengthening. (Whew, tough words to type). I have one that my husband uses ocassionally and I actually sit on it in front of my computer. It is a great "balance helper," which I need as well. It's rather fun. Most come with a training CD. Just a thought. kiki

Default I have one that I do Ball Squats with

in order to keep my back positioned right while doing squats. I have as of yet not gotten to any of the other exercises to do on it. Thanks for asking.
