Flowering Venus Flytraps

DANG that is a super long flower stalk! I can see how they use so much energy to make those things!

I think that's so they don't accidentally eat their pollinators!

It is quite long, perhaps the light is not enough?

Also, it could be just a different types.

I see that the "traps" are smaller than anything I've seen.

One of mine is in spike. Just a bit taller than the tallest leaf. Traps are quite big.
Not as many flower buds as there are on yours though.

Not as many flower buds as there are on yours though.

They are pretty young plants, plus they're just generic Venus flytraps no special cultivar for a big trap. I do have some that are bigger..

Oh and the light should be fine, they're right underneath industrial strength LED grow lights plus they get some indirect sunlight from the window.

Mine, I'm sure all have proper names, are from the Whole Foods. lol

They are small but traps are quite large.
They are also red tinged, which I love!

Also, they are pretty much all closed. I just fed them all pinhead crickets from the pet store.

Wow~ cricket will not fit on mine.

In the past I fed small house fly, which is still quite big, and I find that when you give them relatively large prey, the trap turn black and die.

Now I feed fungaus gnat or other small insects like midges that fly into the apartment. With these, trap reopens after it is done digesting what it can.

These "pinheads" are nymph baby crickets, they're about the size of a large housefly, maybe a bit bigger. I usually have to put the bag from the pet store in the refrigerator for a few hours to slow them down so they don't jump out of the trap before it fully closes around them.
