Default Happy Holiday Season

This year, I have so much to be thankful for during the holiday season. I have been given the gift of life by my lovely wife of thirty-three years around the first of November. She gave me a kidney. The other thing that I am thankful involves our local orchid society. We have our meetings in the administration building of one of the local providers of services of the developmentally disabled. I worked for them for a number of years, which is why we have our meetings there. In any case, as a way of saying thank you, we had to do something. Since they have an Angel Tree every year, for the last two years, we have been taking a number of names off of the tree and buying presents for the clients. These folks are people who have nothing, or darn close to it. Many either don't have family, some have family who cannot afford much and some have family they never see. When I worked for them, I had one guy who bought Christmas presents two years in a row for his family members, only to never see them. I think it broke his heart. Such a nice person, too. I buy for him and three other individuals in addition to the names that are taken off the tree by the society. I get the pleasure of delivering gifts to the people I know and watching to see their reactions. I had one guy come close to crying one year, because he wasn't expecting me to get him anything. I have also had them beam from ear to ear. They take absolutely nothing for granted and the looks on their faces is totally priceless. It is what makes my holidays fun. Happy Holidays Everyone!!!!!

It's a true pleasure to give to somebody else...that's what it's all about
