I believe it to be a Pied-billed grebe, not a duck.

Wow! Great photos! I love those Ruddy Ducks! (I love miniature things myself... Kinda obsessive! Lol, funny thing, my dad, is exactly the same way! He is a little more obsessive tho... U should see my parents house... Lots of tiny little things all over the place! Lol)
I love the Buffleheads, Hooded Merganser, and the Long-Tailed Ducks too! They r soo pretty! Those wood ducks (remember correctly?) have such great patterns! I like the up-close pic, I wouldn't have noticed those dots/spots on their chest otherwise, & the coloring on their heads & beaks! Wow!  great stuff! Thanks Tindo! |

Hi all, Time to revive this thread. I know Ducks are associated with spring for most people. However, for birders the depths of winter are the best times to go see as many ducks as you can get.
Here are some ducks I've been able to photograph.
Wood Duck,
A small female Northern Pintail
Redhead and Wood Duck in the back
Green-winged Teal
Bald Pate, or American Wigeon
Canvasback
Common Mergansers
Ring-Necked Duck
Northern Shovelers
Hooded Merganser
Long-tailed Duck
Bufflehead
Common and King Eider (King is the second from the bottom)
Common Eiders
Surf Scoters!
A bad pic of a Harlequin Duck
Common Goldeneye, again another bad pic
