Those are all awesome. What are the conditions of the conservatory? Have you ever thought about growing some cloud forest epiphytes? Tropical blueberries, or even tropical Rhododendrons???

Thanks Tindo. I love tropical Ericaceous plants, especially Vireya rhodies and Agapetes, and as soon as I can provide the conditions (probably in a greenhouse) I intend to start a collection of my own.
I forget exactly what the temps are in the conservatory, but in winter I believe it's kept in the mid-70's during the day and low-60's possibly high-50's at night. I think it would get too hot in summer for most tropical Ericaceous plants, though, and the humidity leaves much to be desired. The climate outside is basically high desert, and there isn't a misting system inside to keep up humidity. Not to mention, I'm leaving in May and I'm having enough trouble thinking about leaving the plants that are there to whatever questionable caretaker takes over after me.

Ah, thats too bad. But when you get your collection started, lets chat. I got some Macleania, Vireyas, and Disterigma, Sphirospermum, Ceratostema and two species of Agapetes. Im always looking for someone else who is into them just to chat or trade.

It might be a year or two. I'm a college student graduating in May and moving to Massachusetts for a 6 month internship. After that, I'm not sure yet where I'll end up. I don't want to start a collection of those plants until I can stay in one place for a while.
I've enjoyed seeing pictures of your vireyas here, though. And once I do get started, it would be nice to have someone to share experiences with!

Another quick update of my amaryllis. These red ones are everywhere, but its still a bright spot during winter.
