Default Home Grown Tomatoes

A couple of pictures of the garden harvest. This is some of a 2 day harvest. I have already given many tomatoes away. We have spent most of the day canning and putting up for later use.

I have tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini and peppers. Any many more to go.

My first year of gardening.

I have about 30 producing plants. Have more that are still young. Planted in different stages so all wouldn't come in at one time. But this is still a lot a once.

And the wife said "she wasn't canning tomatoes". lol lol

Hope you like tomato stuff. Do you make spaghetti sauce and salsa out of them? Oh, and tomato juice.

Beautiful crop of veggies. If your wife's not into canning she can freeze sauces and salsas in ziploc bags. The air space needs to be elimated before freezing.

*sigh* Makes me wish I had a house.Summer is the only time I get toms (buy them at the local farmers market) -- the garbage we get in stores up here during the rest of the year have no taste.

If you do hit overload, you can check into donating any excess to local food pantries and shelters. They are often very happy to get fresh produce.

Nice job! What type's of tomatoes do you grow? I have gotten into growing Heirlooms as well as beefstakes. My grow season is late September to May. My favorite heirlooms are red Brandywine and Russian Black delicious. Here's a great place to get heirlooms and many other seeds. I have use these people for years. Great place to get seeds you never knew existed.
HEIRLOOM SEEDS - over 1400 varieties of non-hybrid seeds including heirloom vegetable seeds, heirloom flower seeds and heirloom herb seeds.
