WOW, you are my idol fishmommy!

BTW, bromeliads only bloom once every 6 to 8 years. So if she only has one with no pups growing, this might be why it doesn't bloom for her. If pups are newly formed then they might bloom, but again even they will take another 6 to 8 years to rebloom.

Really, I didn't know that! All the genera??? How about Guzmania? Well I know that is not the case for Tillandsia. Right?

I have not found that to be true. I get a new bloom on each new pup, every year or two years
it may depend on species? I mostly grow mini broms and tillies except for super fireball.

I thought so too, but do you have to wait for a new pup to see a bloom? In which case it really does take 6-8 years for a rebloom from each plant.

maybe from a full size patio brom?
the minis I keep are much faster than that - I've only been keeping broms for 3 years and have had 4 generations of super fireball reach full size and bloom. my house is full of them now

I think what Paul was saying is not that it takes 6-8 years for a new brom to bloom, but that it takes 6-8 years for a brom to bloom a second time. Most of what I see blooming are new generations that had never bloomed before. Is that the same case for you, or do you see the same old generations blooming again?

They don't take that long, though, if given proper light and warmth - many of them will bloom every year with sufficient light (on each new growth).
